Which Hawaiian island is best?
JuvenileP101 asked:
I plan on going to Hawaii this year and what amount of money would be good to have for a trip over there for a week? I heard that about $3,500 would be good which includes tickets, car rental, hotel, and money to spend cuz im very outgoing and want to explore the island. This will be my first time so I’m not sure which island is best to go to. But I heard Oahu and Maui are the best ones. But can u go to one island and like cruise to another close by with a small boat cruise?
I so want to spend a lot of money because I want to do possibly everything out there. What range of amount would be best? I need info plz.

Thre are something great about every island, it mostly depends on what you are looking for. I think the best thing would be to visit all the islands during your trip, though you may not get as much time on each island as you would like. You could also take a 14 night cruise that will talk you all over in Hawaii and you get to see a lot things.
As far as how much you should spend, that again really depends on what you want to do. Disney has a new program called Adventures by Disney and they are going to be offering trips with tours to Hawaii, I believe it is around $3000 per adult to do this. So you really can spend as much or as little as you’d like. I think that $3,500 would give you a really nice trip and cover pretty much everything, that is assuming you are going alone or with only one other person and not a larger group.
Hope this helps

My wife & I prefer Maui. A little less of the “Miami Beach” hustle & bustle.
You can do it on your budget.
On Maui, Lahaina is a lovely town & you can find some nice & reasonable lodging there.
All that said if you go to Hawaii you have to visit Oahu to see Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head & the huge waves at the North Shore.
Have a wonderful trip!

The top things to do in Hawaii are:
1. Go to Pearl Harbor to see history at the US Arizona Memorial. You can drive or take the bus there; no need to book a tour. (Oahu Island)
2. If you are on the island of Oahu (where Honolulu and Waikiki beach is) go to the other side of the island to see the great deserted beaches (get a rental car for a day or two).
3. If you go to the Polynesian Cultural Center (Oahu) understand that its run by the Morman church and there are NO alcoholic beverages served there, not even beer. I say skip it and do a Luau instead.
4. If you go to Maui, you gotta do the downhill bike ride. I don’t recommend the sunrise one because you have to get up at 3:00 AM to get started up the mountain and its cold up there that early. If you are a romantic do it, but otherwise no. There are different bike companies and some don’t take you all the way to the top, and some don’t guide you back down. You can come down by yourself, there’s only one road with just a little traffic, but if you are squimish about riding in the street, a company that accompanys you down will help watch the traffic for you. I have been twice and prefer Maui Downhill to the others. These companies have web sites They will pick you up at your hotel, take you to their shop to pick out a wet-suit (for the cold and mist/rain shower maybe) and gloves and helmet; then take you up the mountain; then follow your group down so they can block traffic for your ride; then afterwards take you back to your hotel. Expect this activity to take 75-80% or more of the day.
4. Also in Maui, The Road to Hana is a great drive (you need a rental car). Its a 30 mile winding road that takes 4 hours to drive. Its like driving through the jungle; has a bunch of one lane bridges.
5. On the Big Island of Hawaii: go to the Volcano National Park. Also go see Akaka Falls.

I have never been but am hoping to make it soon. I was in class with a girl that was from Hawaii and she said that Kuai (hope I’m spelling it right) was the best as it is not as ‘touristy.’

Get on a plane and go directly to Kauai. It is an extra $100.00 us from Oahu. We just got back and we truely believe
we where in paradise. No big hotels their so you will need a place with a kitchen. The nicest beaches and very tropical.
It does rain there so be carefull

Oahu is my first and foremost favorite island to go to. It is the only island that I have been to, so I cannot compare it to any of the other islands. To me, it has any and everything on it. Now, if $3,500 is just you going alone, that is an excellent price if it does include all that you want (airfare, hotel, car, and spending money).
