Want to go to Hawaii with my family, please help?

TA asked:

My family(my husband and our 10 year old daughter) wants to go to Hawaii this December, few days after Christmas. Is it to late to get better deals? What’s the best way to book flight tickets and hotel? Can you find hotels when you get there? Most online pictures are false and amazing, which is very different when you arrive. That’s why feeling a little bit sceptical to reserve online. We are thinking to go to Maui for a week. What’s the better hotel (not very expensive, but nice), how much usually those kind of ones cost? What’s the approx. price for a week travel to Mauii for 3?
Thank you so much for your answers in advance.

Airfare/room rates increase significantly just b4 Christmas until Easter. This is the most expensive time to visit Hawaii & most amount of visitors. Check “Vacation Rentals Maui” & “Condos Maui” w/kitchenettes to save $$ on food & more convenient (make sandwiches to take with for lunch & BBQ on the beach at sunset) West Maui has unbelievable sunsets.

The week between Christmas and New Years is BY FAR the busiest week of the year in Hawaii. That is the week that most of the hotels and condos are full, so they can get away with charging their highest prices, and are not likely to be giving any good deals, nor are they likely to have rooms available if you wait until you get there.

For a hotel on Maui that is not as expensive as the newest biggest resorts, I suggest the Kaanapali Beach Hotel.

Reviews and unbiased photos of that one and several other Maui hotels and condos in various price ranges are on the Hotels-Condos tab of
