One of the better things about Hawaii is that the climate is always moderate. Even during the summer time, the trade winds can generally produce a cooling breeze and there are plenty of beaches and a sparkling blue ocean for a swim. All through the winter, temperatures are warm enough for surfing and enjoying the water. Actually, in the winter months, the surf is often much bigger that provide some of the best times for surfing.
You may prefer going to just one of the island destinations or you may want to look into spending time on all the islands. Each of the islands has something distinct to offer.
Oahu boasts famed Waikiki Beach, the state capitol of Honolulu, as well as Pearl Harbor where you will be able to visit the USS Arizona museum. Most travelers decide on Oahu if visiting the Hawaiian Islands for their first time. It is not just the busiest Hawaii Island and the one most visited by tourists, but it’s best for sightseeing if you’re interested in history. You will likely have to spend a bit of time here during your Hawaiian vacation, since almost all flights to and from Hawaii use Honolulu as a hub.
Just north of Oahu, is the island of Kauai. This happens to be the oldest island in Hawaii. You’ll find a great deal of natural beauty and plenty of options for wonderful escapades and outdoor attractions. The Coconut Coast offers golden sand shorelines and to the opposite part of the island is Waimea Canyon. This canyon is well-known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.
The island of Molokai is situated to the south of Oahu. This island hosts a substantial proportion of Native Hawaiians who continue to hold fast to their culture, heritage and traditional way of life.
If you are looking to have a restful Hawaiian vacation, Lanai would be the best island for you. It has no traffic lights and it is also the least densely inhabited of all the islands in Hawaii. It’s a good spot to enjoy a private romantic getaway, and Lanai features two golf courses just to keep your fitness levels trim.
Maui is the second largest in the island chain and boasts a number of the best beaches anywhere in the world. Here you will also have the chance to observe the many Humpback whales which visit Maui each winter.
The Big Island of Hawaii is by far the largest of all of the islands of Hawaii. Almost all of the world’s naturally occurring climates are found in Hawaii’s Big Island. In addition to sandy beaches, you’ll have the chance on the Big Island to view Kilauea, earth’s most active volcano.
A Hawaii cruise vacation is one way to enjoy the islands. A seven-day luxury cruise offers you just about a day and a half on each of the islands with fabulous cuisine and accommodations onboard the ship. Most cruises begin and end in Honolulu and include entertainment as you sail between islands.
Should you decide to spend time in the islands, you can find thousands of hotel rooms to stay in. In addition, you will find Hawaii condos readily available for a comfortable home-away-from-home place to stay while you’re in Hawaii.
