Self Care – Dandruff Treatment
Afraid to shake your head? Family health issues can range from mild to serious. Parents who are well informed of the care needed for their family can avoid high health costs over minor health issues. Dandruff is a form of seborrheic dermatitis, which is an inflammatory condition in which dead scalp cells flake off. When you are very stressed, tired or ill, dandruff may worsen. If you color your hair, perform waxing, or straightening, you may also notice an increase in flaking of the scalp.
Herbal Treatments may include aloe vera, as it hs skin softening properties that could help alleviate dandruff. It appears to be most effective when a freshely cut leaf is rubged onto the affected rea. You can also bathe the affected areas three tims a week with a 2 percent essence of geranium in a distilled water base.
Other Remedies
If your hair is oily, brush it thoroughly and gently and then wash it with a shampoo for oily hair. Follow this with a dandruff shampoo that contains sulfur; it will remove dead scalp cells and reduce the output of oil glands. Next, apply a lemon rinse, made with the strained juice of onen lemon in a cup of lukewarm water. Work it through the scalp, and rinse with cool water. Treat your hair with this program twice a week until the condition is under control.
If your hair is dry, brush it gently, then spread on about 1/4 cup of hand and body lotion and work it into the scalp. You could use a good protein hair cream as well, or green tea hair creams that are so popular now. Next, wrap your head with a towel tht has been soaked in very hot water and wrung out, nd leave it in place for about 20 minutes. Then, wash the hair with amild dandruff shampoo. One that contains tea tree or zinc pryithione. After shampooing, rinse the scalp thoroughly with lukewarm water, finishing as cool as you can tolerate.
If you have normal hair, brush gently, wash it with plain shampoo, and then apply a rinse made by disolving six aspirin tablets in a cup of warm water. The rinse should ge poured over the hair, worked into the scalp and left on for 15 minutes before rinsing out. A weakened, diluted mixtue of apple cider vinegar and water for rinsing of the hair also helps.
