Safer Than Pizza

People consume copious amounts of different cuisines worldwide and none seems to be more popular than pizza. It is loved all over the world, in many different recipes, and seems to have the largest following in the USA where it is literally eaten by the acre every day.

These amazing statistics are based on pizza consumers in America:

  • Pizzarias represent 17% of all restaurants in the USA.
  • One third of American pizza eaters prefer pepperoni.
  • 94% of the US population eats pizza.

I’d say it is fairly established, the Americans love their pizza. How does this all stack up when you compare with other countries such as Australia? Although the population is far smaller in Australia, the Aussies still carry their weight in the pizza eating stakes. The boys at Melbourne Pizza Delivery (MPD) are carrying out the next Aussie Social Experiment to work out where they sit in the global marketplace of the renown gourmet pizza.

How will this social experiment work? First of all the boys from MPD establish the nutrition levels of many pizza types. Then they look at who eats the different pizza types and what the demographics of the consumers are. How does the body cope with the nutrition levels of a pizza over a prolonged period? There are many questions to ask and these will be answered as the research continues.

People from all backgrounds adore their pizza and it isn’t restricted to just a few social backgrounds anymore. Just about anyone can find the money for a take away pizza nowadays and that clearly shows up in the copious amounts of pizza that is delivered to people’s doorsteps every day of the week all over the world.
