Organic Fertilizer - All You Need To Know About Organic Fertilizer

Like anything else in life you truly need to understand something before you can use it or recommend it. This can also be said for what you need to know when using organic fertilizer.

So exactly what are basic fertilizers made from and how do they affect us?

On every lawn fertilizer bag you will notice 3 written numbers. This is a requirement as it shows how much potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus are in each bag of fertilizer. In each country the amounts are different. Inorganic fertilizers are made from synthetic or manufactured chemicals whereas organic fertilizers are made from naturally occurring resources.

This may sound confusing though but there are some natural minerals that although they are technically inorganic are safe as organic fertilizers and have been used for many years. Such minerals are limestone, saltpeter, phosphate from mine rocks.

So as not to confuse things the best thing to know is that if you are looking for organic lawn fertilizer that it can be store purchased or you could develop your own fertilizer using the most common fertilizer which is compost. The true organic product is created when natural materials decay or rots. This is highly effective as when the material rots or decays it breaks itself down into water and minerals which can be highly nutritious for your lawn or garden.

You should remember though that although some things might seem organic you should never use meat, bones or oils as when choosing the correct organic fertilizer. You should not find this in stores but if you are considering making your own fertilizer you should take this into consideration.

It is said that using organic fertilizer can take twice the effort when applying it. Like most things though hard work and determination are well worth the effort is you are especially going green. Using organic fertilizer can take several applications before you see results but it will be worth the effort in the long run.

If you are trying to decide whether to use organic fertilizers over their synthetic partners you should remember though that it will take more organic fertilizer to do the job as compared to their synthetic counterpart. Using organic fertilizers on average did show a higher yield than most synthetic fertilizers which is not only good for our health but is also good for the continuation of our environment.
