A Book Stand Makes a Good Gift for Readers
A book stand is a amazing aid for any real book lover. Currently sole types vary from straight forward wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that holds a book at variable angles on any flat surface, to the elegantly conceived and executed LEVO Bookholder that secures a book in either a floor stand model or a clamp-on design that easily fastens to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand models function well with hardcovers, but they also can function very well with paperback books when they are mounted within book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is among the least expensive of book stands. It folds flat for easy storage and transport and is sold with it’s own convenient pouch punched for easy use in a 3 ring binder. It may be used on a countertop for cookbooks, or the top of a desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders extend out from the back plane to secure your book open, and, by adjusting how far apart the arms are, smaller and larger books may be readily accommodated. The back plane has horizontal pieces that can be moved to vary the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor stand model, which features a weighted base on casters for ease of movement from chair side to bedside to desk side to beside the kitchen counter top. Wherever you position it, the LEVO will support in virtually any position you can imagine. With a bookboard which adjusts into virtually any position, and coupled with a book mounting mechanism that will secure your book, even in an inverted position, the LEVO makes reading truly hands-free from just about any position.
The LEVO Desk Clamp on model is just as handy as its floor standing sibling, but provides a clamp that securely attaches to just about any desk, table, counter top, work bench or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and offers the same movements as the floor model, without the degree of telescoping movements vertically. By supporting your reading materials off the surface to which it is attached, the desk model saves the weight and expense of the weighted base while still freeing up valuable work space, since your book doesn’t rest on the working surface.
While there are other book stand designs currently available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have withstood the test of time and hold up well to constant use.
